The White House Press Corps: Ridiculous and Entitled Whiners.

As an American, perhaps one of the most embarrassing stories coming from Obama’s recent trip to India is the story of White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs threatening to pull President Obama out of a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, unless a group of American journalists who identified themselves as “the White House 8” were all allowed to attend the meeting as previously agreed upon.

Although the self-centered and self-serving American mainstream media is framing the story as an otherwise combative White House Press Secretary standing up for journalists he normally has hostile relationships with, a more accurate description is an arrogant White House Press Secretary seeking to gain future favorable press coverage for President Obama.

Perhaps some of the comments from Jeremy Scahill’s twitter page sum up the absurdity of the recent news headline.

• And US forces killed Tariq Ayoub & Jose Couso - Robert Gibbs rescues WH press corps

• Robert Gibbs acts like a defender of the press. Why doesn't he condemn the killing of Reuters journalists by US forces?

• Considering the ACTUAL war on journalists, the self-declared "White House 8," look like ridiculous, entitled whiners.

• Journos in Iraq & Afghanistan are killed regularly. It gets almost no media coverage or solidarity from elite journos

• The White House press corps traveling in India labeling themselves the "White House 8" is really stupid.

The rude and obnoxious behavior of White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs reflects the frustration of a superpower in decline and an administration consentingly demonstrating to the world they are ill equipped to govern the country.
